"This isn't a bluff." Putin threatens the world with nuclear weapons

On Wednesday, September 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin made an address to the Russians. In it he not only announced a partial mobilization in Russia, but also threatened the world with nuclear weapons.

Bloody dictator Putin is convinced that "there is nuclear blackmail against Russia. He stated that he was prepared to use all available means of seemingly defending himself.

"I would like to remind you that our country also has different means of destruction, and in some components even more advanced than those of NATO countries. And in the event of a threat to the territorial integrity of our country, we will certainly use all the means at our disposal to defend Russia and our people. This is not a bluff... And those who are trying to blackmail us with nuclear weapons should know that the winds may turn in their direction as well," - Putin claims.

"The threat was, is and will be": Blackmail around nuclear weapons is not new, military expert Peter Chernik notes, commenting on Russian dictator Putin's threats to use nuclear weapons.

"We must realize that if a nuclear strike occurs, it is no longer only a problem of Ukraine. It goes beyond Ukraine to the planetary level and the major nuclear states, primarily the United States, will be forced to respond to this challenge. They will have no other options."

Putin's threats of a nuclear strike primarily concern Western countries. "This is blackmail to force Europe and NATO to reduce support for Ukraine" -military expert Oleksandr Musiyenko explained.

"This is a sign of weakness; this is pressure on the West. Everyone knows that Putin has these weapons after all. He sometimes looks like a not quite adequate person who has manic ambitions - he is obsessed with the neo-imperial idea. In the West, some people are afraid of this, so Putin is looking for 'pain points' to hit in this way."

The consequences of the Russian use of nuclear weapons in Ukraine will be catastrophic for Russia.

"If Russia uses nuclear weapons in Ukraine, the United States will destroy the Black Sea Fleet." - Lieutenant General Ben Hodges, former commander of U.S. forces in Europe, made a statement to that effect.

The U.S. sees no reason to change the level of nuclear force readiness because of Putin's words. The U.S. has put sparse planes in the sky to monitor Russian nuclear missiles.

"He wants to scare the whole world. These are the first steps of his nuclear blackmail. I don't think he's bluffing. I think the world is holding him back and containing this threat. We need to keep the pressure on him and not let him continue," - Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky commented on Putin's threats to use nuclear weapons on Ukrainian territory in an interview with CBS.
